A Golden Time!

Hello all!

Hope you've had a good start to the week. Yesterday was "back to school" day for us at Casa Mia - not too many poorly peeps for the first day back, so I managed to get some admin bits and bobs tied up! 

Although I made this card last month, somehow I just didn't get around to blogging it and as a few challenges have popped up in my blogger feed I thought now would be a great time to air this beauty!

A good friend asked me to make a card celebrating her parents' Golden Wedding Anniversary, and gave me free rein to do what I wanted .... eeeeeek!!!!!!!! This was the result ... a double gatefold card:

My card recipe is as follows:

• Card base - is Snow White Gold Centura Pearl which I have cut, scored and folded to make a Double Gatefold Card using this tutorial at SplitCoast Stampers. I had to tweak the measurements slightly as an A4 sheet of card is fractionally smaller than 30cm in length, but I forgot to make a note of all the measurements - doh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
• Backing Paper - is a design called Tpl Gold Foil Paper 21 Gold (from the That Photo Life Gold Papers Kit) by Marisa Lerin at Pixel Scrapper Digital Scrapbooking, which I've used on the outside of the card to back my Centura Pearl and also on the inside of the card

• Images - are from freebie stamp set which came with a Cardmaking & Papercraft Magazine some time ago. I've stamped these onto Neenah Solar White cardstock using VersaMark Ink and then given them a liberal coating of gold embossing powder which I then heated. Once dry and cool, I fussy cut around the images and attached them to the front panels of my card with foam pads.

• Sentiment - is another stamp from the Cardmaking & Papercraft Magazine set, which I've stamped directly onto the rear panel using gold ink

• Ribbon - is from my stash and I've attached this to the outside of the rear panel of the card, and then threaded it behind the stem of the champagne flute so that it stays in place when the card is open.

Sorry this post is very "photo heavy", but I wanted to show you all the golden elements that went into this card ;o)!

Butterfly Scent

Hello - another scheduled post as I'm still in the Med!

Today is an exciting day for Sophia's Sweet Scribbles as we're bringing you Larissa's newest images, and these ones will be perfect for all the ladies in your life (and some of the men too!) as this collection is called Eau de Parfum and features exquisite perfume bottles in many shapes, sizes and styles!

I'm delighted to be showcasing Butterfly Wings and here is my card:

• Card base - is Neenah Desert Storm Kraft cardstock which I have cut, scored and folded to make a 12cm square gatefold card. 
• Papers - I have used 2 different papers from the Spring Paper Collections by Larissa at Sophia's Sweet Scribbles. On the front of the card I have used the Candyfloss and Cream colourway from the Striped Paper Collection and on the inside I have used the Candyfloss colourway from the Spring Butterfly Collection. 
• Image - is Butterfly Wings from the Eau de Parfum Collection  at Sophia's Sweet Scribbles. I have brought this elegant bottle of scent to life using my Spectrum Noir Pencils in the listed colours, before fussy cutting the image out and attaching it to the left side of the card.
• Bottle - 29, 34, 35 
• Cap - 84, 87, 107 
• Butterflies - 61, 65, Gold Gel Pen
• Sentiment - is by Paulette at Create with TLC which I have superimposed onto  the Butterfly Paper.

Busy Bees bringing a Birthday Buzz!

Hi,

It's time for a new challenge over at Lexi's Creations and this time we're challenging you to use just Black and White, plus one other colour.

This fortnight, our sponsor is the lovely Lexi at Fairy Dust Crafts who, as usual, has given the DT their choice of image to work with for this challenge. She is also offering a prize to our lucky winner.

I've tried something completely new for this card, and have made a gatefold card, but the front part of the card is made from acetate. I think it's worked quite well.

My card recipe is as follows:

• Base Card - Centura Pearl 300gsm card in Snow White cut to form a 15cm square card base. Two pieces of Acetate cut  to 8.5cm x 15cm and scored at 1cm on the short side to give a "tab". Double sided tape was used to fix these to the reverse of my card base.
• Design Paper - from the Strawberry Kisses CD-Rom and I tweaked the colour using the built in Colouriser to get the shades of yellow that I wanted. I got the wavy edge round it by using my new acquisition, a Clevercut paper trimmer set to a wavy line.
• Mat & Layer Card - some plain black card I had in my stash, and 2 pieces were using a circles from the  "nest" on the Ultimate Pro Embossing Board Springtime Sweets and cupcake Treats. My TOP TIP for you here is, if there's room on your base mat & layer card, cut out your shape for under your image from that. No-one will see it as it will be hidden by your DP and it will cut down on weight (if you're posting your card) and cost (in these thrifty times) as you won't need to use another sheet! I can't claim this is my own idea ... but as, I've never seen it printed anywhere, I thought I would share it with you as this idea is too good to keep to myself!!!
• Images - Bug 1 is by Lexi of Fairy Dust Crafts and is just one of the gorgeous images that you can find at her store. I printed out 2 images, one for the front of the card and the other (slightly larger) for the inside. These were both cut out and layered onto the black card. Once I had mounted the one inside the card, I closed the acetate on top, and mounted the smaller Bee "sandwich" directly on top of the inside one. When the card is closed, it looks like there's just one image there!   I brought these busy bees to life with my Spectrum Noir Pens in the following colours:
• Bee - CT3, CT4, True Black
• Outline - GG1
• Wings and "Flying Squiggles" - Holographic Embossing Powder
• Edge of shape - Yellow Chalk
• Sentiment - by Paulette at  Create with TLC
